Maths Horizons Associates
Maths Horizons' current goal is to increase the rigour of mathematical problem solving and reasoning for all students so that they leave education equipped to use their maths to solve abstract and real-world problems with flexibility.
Working alongside the upcoming national curriculum change, we aim to support all maths teachers to:

Explicitly teach the strategies and habits of mathematical thinking.

Make problem solving accessible to pupils of all levels of prior attainment.

Connect mathematical ideas by recognising relationships and structures.

Teach mathematics through meaningful applications and encounters with important mathematical ideas.
To do this, it's essential that we work with practising teachers who can inform and test our ideas, challenge assumptions and help us stay close to the reality of the classroom. Our Associates programme formalises this way of working by creating a small network of teachers whose insight and feedback shape our work. We know that any support we offer to maths educators is only as strong as our understanding of the classrooms it is designed for, and that understanding must come from people working with pupils every day. We hope this will build on the collaborative spirit that has already shaped Maths Horizons and give us a more direct, sustained way of working alongside teachers.

How do I become an Associate?
If you are interested in applying to become a Maths Horizons Associate, please complete the application form as soon as possible, and by Friday 23 October at the latest. We suggest you have the support of your school before applying.
